IGI Best Design Illustration 2005. December 2005
Last December the Illustrators Guild of Ireland hosted their annual award ceremony in Dublin.
Alé Mercado Illustration was awarded the best 2005 illustration in the design category. Other awarded illustrators were David Rooney, David Lynch, Kevin McSherry and Joven Kerekes.

Lyon Calling Tour. September 2005
Lyon Calling is a collective project. Le Peuple de l'Herbe, Mei Tei Sho and High Tone are three well known bands that have decided to create a music collective. They are touring Europe.
Alé Mercado Illustration have undertaken the visuals for the Ireland dates, producing a flyer and a poster.
START Magazine. September 2005
New piece for the South Tipperary Arts Centre magazine START.
This time illustrating an interesting article about the artists' tax exemption. It makes a point about the us vs. them situation between artists and the rest of the society.
Rhyme Rag. September 2005
In collaboration with the Arts Office in the Kilkenny County Council, Alé Mercado Illustration have designed and illustratd the first issue of the Rhyme Rag.
Rhyme Rag is a poetry competition for teenagers. 17 poems were selected by Frank Marshall out of 54
Alé Mercado in Electric Picnic. August 2005
Blue Ghost was playing in this edition of the Electric Picnic Festival along with bands like LCD Soundsystem, Lemonyelly, Kraftwerk or Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. They asked Alé Mercado Illustration to create some visuals based in the ones done for Airtight last Christmas (see Music Section.)
START Magazine. June 2005
South Tipperary Arts Centre magazine START editor Brendan Maher and Alé Mercado Illustration have started an on-going collaboration.
START magazine did a brief review on Alé Mercado Illustration work in their Spring 2005 issue, where you could also find a very interesting interview with Laurie Anderson or an article about a monument in Waterford to local men who lost their lives in the Spanish Civil War.
Alé Mercado Illustration will be producing an editorial piece for each one of the coming issues of this quaterly magazine.
Linton Kwesi Johnson. Apr2005
British poet, originally from Jamaica, Linton Kwesi Johnson visited Kilkenny last 2nd April to perform some of his work.
Alé Mercado Illustration has created the posters for the gig through our on-going collaboration with the Arts Office at the Kilkenny County Council.
The image is a two ink digital image. Each one of the separations were produced separately simulating scraperboard digitally. The poster has had a great response. We have received a few mails from Linton Kewsi Johnson fans, poster art lovers...
Ale Mercado in Kilkenny Art Gallery Dic2004
The Kilkenny Art Gallery was opened last 30th November.
Exhibiting there are more than 30 local, national and international artists.

Sci-Fi Comic-Book
Joven Kerekes, BrenB and Ale Mercado are developing a new comic book project.
It will be a 90 pages book whose theme will be Sci-Fi. It will be very much inspired by American 50s pulp culture. One of the biggest influences of the project will be Basil Wolverton. Specially his apocalyptic imagery.
Ale Mercado is preparing one of his Pueblo Lobo stories for this project.
